Sweater-Weather Baubles: Elevate Your Knitwear
Who says you can’t add a little (or a lot) of sparkle to your toasty layers? Fall is finally here; we’ve already seen snow, rain, and leaves changing color. It’s officially sweater weather, and I’m excited! You’ll see that I’ve not only rounded up some amazing gems to complement your cozy threads, but have also suggested the knitwear. Yes, your warmer clothing should be functional, but who says you can’t amp it up and be glamorous with the right jewelry.
Whether it’s a pair of statement drop earrings to go with that oversized turtleneck, or a magnificent choker to enhance a cashmere V-neck, there’s a match for it all. So bring on the snow and send in the diamonds!
Prep School
I have been eyeing this hunter-green, cashmere varsity cardigan for a while, and have often wondered how to luxe it up, but also keep it clean-cut. Aside from a pair of posh loafers, I would gladly complement it with this Serena Williams Jewelry Cuban-link beauty and nothing else. Boasting 3 1/3 carats of brilliant pave diamonds, this 14k white gold necklace can be worn choker-style or as a longer piece. It’s classic enough to simply pull off that elevated ivy league look, but also on-trend and ready to be mixed with a gold piece or two.
Off to Paris
When I say “Paris,” I don’t mean your average beret-and-pumps ensemble. I’m referring more towards the Montmartre vibe, an ode to bohemian Paris. This Ulla Johnson alpaca sweater needs a pair of amazing, eye-catching earrings. Playing on the earthy tones are these tiered drop earrings in a pinkish gold, finished with jade-hued gemstones surrounded by nude diamonds. The understated sophistication here is on point, and a perfect match for this top.
Elegant Grunge
A little bit of rock and roll via an upscale sweatshirt is key right now, and this cutout French terry number hits a high, stylish note when paired with the right bangle. A perfect pick, this spiked design is decked out in 14k yellow gold and almost 9 carats of diamonds. It’s fierce, but tempers the casual effect of a sweatshirt. The only thing missing from this look are leather skinnies and a mix of ear studs.
Night Blooms
Moody flower prints mixed with a hint of edge are fresh for fall, and this Paco Rabanne sweater deserves an outrageous cocktail ring. I looked to one of my favorite designers, Vanleles, and found a flawless pick. From the Legends of Africa collection comes this high-contrast ring, featuring 18k white gold and a mix of black and white diamonds. The whole look is feminine, but vampy, and I think it’s a strong combination—even going into next season.
Whatever your fall fashion style, there are endless jewelry options that are sure to please. Standout earrings will frame your face, cocktail rings make a dramatic statement, and long necklaces will layer nicely over sweaters, under scarves, or tuck neatly into coats.
